8:30am - noon

Faith Lutheran Church

1716 SW Gage, Topeka, KS 66604

Fibers from nature, both plant and animal, have been the basis for the sessions that have been offered in our previous workshops.
This year we have the opportunity to learn more about where some fibers that we all love come from.
~Camel Hair~Silk~Alpaca~
Valeri Crenshaw, Melanie Hutchinson and Marcia Fish will share their knowledge and experiences of obtaining and working with these different fibers. They will be a part of a large-group presentation because no one wanted to have to decide which session to attend!

Valeri raises camels on Shamrock Farms in Wabaunsee County, northwest of Alma. Camels in Kansas!!!

Melanie
lived in India for twelve years, teaching sewing skills to outcast women so they could learn skills to earn a living. Silk was a fiber was used.

Marcia
raises alpacas on Orchard Hill Farm in Hoyt, KS. Removing the fleece from the animals and processing the fiber into a product to use is all done on this farm.

After a short break, attendees will be able to attend one of the breakout sessions where other artisans will share more information in smaller groups about what we can do with fibers.
